While many “Hard Core” wheelers may scoff at the idea of wheeling a Subaru, they are actually very capable rigs when built up a bit. Sure they will never be a serious rock crawler, but for exploring, camping, and playing in mud or on easy trails they will do everything that 90% of people on the back-roads will require.
The “Cursed Crosstrek” is a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek with 3.5 inches of lift coming from a 2″ King Springs lift and 1.5″ LP Adventures spacers that go between the suspension cross-member and the unibody.
Traction is provided by 29 inch BFG ko2’s
When the mud gets taller than the tires a custom front bumper with a 5,000 lb smity winch is there for recovery duties.
Independent suspension front and rear is not the best for wheel travel, so Torq Master Lockers in the center and rear difs keep the Sube moving forward when it gets flexed out.
All in all the Cursed Crosstrek is a fun little rig that does everything it’s owner requires, and probably handles on the FSRs far better than my Jeep does.
It goes to show that just because you don’t have something like a Jeep or Toyota doesn’t mean you can’t have a blast in the back country.
